I was interviewed by OTV (one of the local TV channels in Lebanon) on the highly sensitive subject of women ordination. The priest who was invited too clearly expressed his opposition to women being ordained in orthodox and catholic churches. I presented the Sciences of Religions’ perspective, I talked about women pastors and bishops in other Christian churches, about Feminist Theologies, and new archaeological discoveries (murals from the 2nd c. C.E. depicting women priests and bishops for example). I also expressed the importance of opening the door to an intra-sectarian debate about power sharing between the clergy and lay people… However, I discovered that what I explained concerning the latter problematic was censored!!! Welcome to Lebanon !!
